Education System of Bangladesh

Although Bangladesh is a a country with huge population and poverty , it is still a developing country . But the burning question is the education of Bangladesh is enough for this modern world . Let us go deeper and learn about this fact.

Bangladesh got it’s independence in 1971 . And now it is the year 2022. But still Bangladesh follow the education system given by British . A recent survey shows that the quality of education in Bangladesh remains low. The most essential measure of quality in a school system is whether its students are learning the foundational skill for all future learning: reading. In Bangladesh most children are not acquiring basic reading fluency.Nearly 66 percent of children do not achieve basic literacy. Innumerable causes like inadequate resources, insufficient and unqualified teachers, lack of community involvement, and corruption all contribute to the poor state of education in Bangladesh.

In the Global Knowledge Index 2020, Bangladesh ranked 117th with a score of 43.9 in the pre-university education category while in the higher education sector, the country ranked 129th with a score of 24.1.

Education in Bangladesh is overseen by the country’s Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education is responsible for implementing policy for primary education and state-funded schools at a local level. In Bangladesh, all citizens must undertake ten years of compulsory education which consists of five years at primary school level and five years at high school level. Primary and secondary education is financed by the state and free of charge in public schools. The ministry of Education is Dipu Moni .
